On Tuesday Afternoon, District 19 was alerted to a Commercial
Motor Vehicle Crash on Interstate 295 south near Exit 17. Rescue 1918, Engine 1911, Tender 1914, Chief
19 and Deputy 19 all responded. Chief
Wiest located a tractor trailer that had lost its tank trailer on the on ramp
for Exit 17 northbound. The tank was
carrying 5000 gallons of diesel fuel and 3000 gallons of gasoline. A quick inspection found that the tank
integrity had not been compromised. Crews stood by until the fluids were transferred to another tanker and
the vehicle was lifted back on to the roadway by Riehl’s Towing. Also on scene were members of the New Jersey
State Police, East Greenwich Police, Greenwich Police, Greenwich Twp Office of
Emergency Management and the NJ DOT Traffic Control Unit.
