District 19 responded to 3 fumes calls today. A crude oil tank at the PBF Energy’s Paulsboro Refinery developed a leak Thursday afternoon. The tank filled the surrounding  containment dike capturing the leaking crude oil. Unfortunately the natural vapors of the crude oil have not all been able to be captured resulting in a petroleum smell that has besieged the region. Rescue 1918 & Deputy 19 were dispatched to residences’ on Royal Crescent Court, West Cohawkin Road and Timberlane Road and took air quality readings. While the odor is quite distinct, the air readings were all satisfactory and showed no contaminants in the air. We are all hoping for a speedy clean up process!!!
