On Tuesday Evening the volunteers firefighters received some
much need help from the East Greenwich Township Committee. After many meetings the Town Fathers were
able to come to an agreement to finance a new Rescue Pumper for the volunteer
fire department. The department proposed
a 3 for 1 vehicle purchase during a public presentation at the committee’s
February Meeting. The department proposed retiring a 29 year old
fire engine, a 26 year old fire engine and an 18 year old rescue truck to be replaced
with a new combination Rescue Pumper. The
two older fire engine are open cabs, this meaning the rear seating areas and
not in an enclosure. The Members of East
Greenwich Township Fire and Rescue would like to Thank the members of the
Township Committee for being able to forge a deal to provide the funding for
the purchase of the safer more up to date piece of fire apparatus.
