On Wednesday Evening around 2300hrs District 19 and GC BLS
82-35 were dispatched to Interstate 295 Northbound for a Commercial Vehicle
Fire. G.C. 9-1-1 was receiving multiple
calls reporting the incident. Deputy 19
was first to arrive and confirmed the working fire in between Exits 16 &
17. Gibbstown Fire Department was added
to the assignment as it turned out to be in their response area. Engine 1911 arrived first due and placed two hand
lines in service. Tender 1914 arrived
and supplied E-1911 with enough water to knock the bulk of the fire down. Tender 2111, Rescue 2118 and Ladder 2116 and Engine 1912 also
made the response. Ladder 2116 was
placed into service to cool down the remaining hot spots in the midsection of
the trailer. Tender 1914 established a
refilling site on Harmony Road
and shuttled water out to the units operating on the highway. Also assisting on scene with traffic control were
East Greenwich, Greenwich,
and Paulsboro Police Departments and the New Jersey State Police. Thanks to Nick Furman for the action shots.
