Another Day of Multiple Runs

Friday, May 27, 2011

Just before lunch, the pagers rang out for a commercial vehicle fire on Shute Farm Lane in the Clarksboro Section of the township.  Engine 1911 arrived to find a skid steer well involved.  Crews went in service with a 1 ¾ and knocked the fire down.  Engine 1711 from the Paulsboro Fire Department and Gloucester County BLS 82-45 were on hand to assist.  Later in the day the township experienced a large scale power outage.  District 19 was dispatched to the 76 Travelers Plaza for automatic fire alarm activation.  The alarm tripped due to the power outage.  While on location of the alarm, Gloucester County 9-1-1 received a request from a resident of the Weathervane Farms development to emergency assistance to a person whose in-home oxygen system was no longer working due to the power outage.  Gloucester County BLS Unit 82-35 was requested to do patient assessment while fire department crews set up a back up electric generator.  Later on while back at the stations cleaning up from the early calls, crews were once again alerted to a motor vehicle crash on Kings Highway at the Mantua Creek Bridge.  Crews responded out but luckily no one was injured and District 19 went available.
