Mission Statement
The Mission of the East Greenwich Township Fire & Rescue is to provide a professional level of community fire protection, emergency medical and rescue services to the citizens and property owners within the Township of East Greenwich, in order to prevent or minimize the loss of life, pain and suffering and property damage as a result of fire or other type of emergency.
The Fire Department’s mission will be accomplished by the effective use of its volunteer members and physical resources, in cooperation with other public agencies, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, innovative techniques, and available technology to provide a high level of cost efficient, quality services.
The East Greenwich Fire Company and Mount Royal Fire Company merged to officially become East Greenwich Township Fire/Rescue (EGTFR) on September 1, 2008.
In 2004 both fire companies agreed it was time to merge forces for the good of the township, and in January 2005 the operational side of the fire department combined its ranks. For the first time in history, both stations were operating under the direction of one township fire chief and one deputy fire chief, with each station retaining a set of line officers to manage the day to day operations.
Both fire companies have celebrated more than a century of service, with the East Greenwich Fire Company marking 100 years in 2003 and the Mount Royal Fire Company doing the same in 2008.
The East Greenwich Twp Fire and Rescue is a volunteer department that serves the residents of East Greenwich Township 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including bordering towns under mutual aid agreements.
